Hi! Welcome back to the Live Your Best Plant Life Mini Course. If you are just joining you can catch up on previous exercises here: Live Your Best Plant Life Mini Course.
So far in this course we have been very positive. Taking a fun photo inventory of our current plantlife. Dreaming up our ideal plantscape. Clarifying our motivation to create an amazing plant filled life.
This entire time however, there was probably a part of you saying BUT.
BUT I don't have enough x,y,z.
I do want a great plant life and these exercises are fun BUT...
Don't worry!
In this part of the course we are going to move beyond dreaming and finding inspiration. We are going to face up to the hard things standing in our way.
That doesn't mean that everything you think is a challenge really is one. We will be peeling off some layers to get to the root of the issue. But it does mean that by the end of this you will have practical tools for how to move your plant life forward in a real way.
Ready? Okay!
In the quiz below, I've included some oft reported environmental challenges to gardening. Download the printable quiz here: Environmental Challenges
Once you complete the quiz, note any areas you rated a three or higher. For those areas rated three or higher, follow up with the related exercises in the sections below.
Money - Space - Light as Barriers.
Have you ever researched how to garden on a budget? If so, you’ve probably found thousands of resources. (When I search online for the phrase "gardening on a budget" I get exactly 275,000 hits).
There are also thousands of resources available for low light and small-space gardening. In-spite of these resources, if you still feel money, light, and space are constraints, why? Use this worksheet to examine why you feel these issues are limiting your plant life. It may be that there are actually other underlying issues. If not, cool. Once you are clear that theses are constraints you can move forward eliminating them. Check-out the quick-action cards below for tips on how to start moving forward.
Time as a Barrier
Time is an interesting concept. We often feel we never have enough time, but we can admit to using our time in low value ways. Examine time as a constraint to growing your plant life by using this Time as a Barrier Worksheet. Included in the worksheet are practical steps to commit time to building your plant life.
Hopefully these exercises will empower you to create the plant life you truly want. If, by working through these exercises you've discovered some other barriers that's okay. We will continue to explore challenges in the next post.
Meanwhile - get a head start boosting your plant life. Check out the Effortless Container Gardening Blog Series for tips on what to plant now.
